What is Ironer & simultaneity?

The flatwork ironer draws a lot of power while heating up and holds it afterwards. If it starts together with the dryers, the laundry’s morning peak forms — and often the annual maximum of the whole building.

The lever is not the machine but the sequence: the same volume of linen, just not all inside the same quarter-hour.

What is measured here

  • Electrical power of the ironer and heat-up duration
  • Simultaneity with dryers and washers
  • Quarter-hour total of the laundry at the feeder
  • Idle periods: heated up but with no throughput

How we connect it — read-only

  • Modbus sub-meter at the laundry feeder for the aggregate load.
  • Individual meters per large machine where the distribution board allows.
  • Clamp-on current transformers as a retrofit without touching the wiring.

What the AI does

  • Staggers heat-up so ironer and dryers do not start together.
  • Detects idling: the ironer standing hot with no linen running through.
  • Places the start of heat-up before the building’s peak rather than inside it.
  • Shows the laundry’s share of the annual maximum — measured, not estimated.

Why does the peak form in the morning?

Because that is when linen throughput is concentrated and heat-up, drying and ironing coincide. In many properties the most expensive quarter-hour of the year sits in exactly that window.
