What is cylinder exhaust temperature?

Measures the exhaust temperature per cylinder (normal range 480–560 °C); spread of all cylinders should be max. 30 °C — deviating individual cylinders indicate ignition misfires, defective spark plugs or valve problems.

What the AI reads from these values

What the AI reads
  • Deviation in cylinder spread (target: max. 30 °C) to identify local problems
  • Detection of ignition misfires by significantly lower values of individual cylinders
  • Detection of valve damage, identifiable by disproportionately high temperatures
  • Monitoring of the normal range (480–560 °C) to ensure plant uptime
Scenario

Monitored: continuous

The scenario: a gradual drop in oil pressure or a drifting temperature remains below the alarm until the emergency shutdown occurs — at the worst possible moment. The AI: detects the deviation from normal operation early and reports it before the protection trips. It identifies the trend before the limit value is reached.

Why this matters

Precise monitoring prevents thermal overloads and reduces unplanned downtime through early fault detection. The identification of cylinder deviations enables targeted maintenance measures on the affected components. This protects the exhaust valves from premature wear and optimises the efficiency of the CHP unit. electrical power (kW) · input gas power (kW) → — % elec. efficiency Calculation: electrical power ÷ gas power × 100
