The scenario: a drifting excitation shifts the cos φ without triggering a limit value, reactive power costs or grid issues. The AI: detects the shift early in proportion and reports it before the protection reacts. It identifies the trend before the limit value is reached.
Precise grid protection prevents irreversible damage to the CHP unit components by disconnecting within 200 ms in the event of a grid failure and ensures the operating license. The automatic decoupling protects the windings from overheating due to voltage spikes. Furthermore, it prevents the CHP unit from feeding power into the grid uncontrollably (islanding), which guarantees safety for technicians and the infrastructure.
