What is How does the gas storage level regulate the CHP unit??

The PLC regulates the CHP unit output via 5 gas storage level stages: the CHP unit starts at approx. 65% level, stops at approx. 30%; between the thresholds, the power is adjusted stepwise — preventing gas storage overflow and gas shortage.

What the AI reads from these values

What the AI reads
  • Level below 30 %: alarm state gas shortage and automatic shutdown of the CHP unit.
  • Level between 30 % and 65 %: stepwise power adjustment to optimise the gas consumption rate.
  • Level above 65 %: operation in high-load mode or avoidance of overflow through control adjustment.
  • Live measured value (e.g., 255.7): indicator for the current gas quantity and available stock.
Scenario

Monitoring: continuous

The scenario: if the methane content decreases slowly, the engine begins to knock without an alarm occurring, leading to power reduction and wear. The AI: detects the quality trend early and reports it before the knocking causes damage. It detects the trend before the limit value is reached.

Why this matters

Precise control of the level prevents costly downtime due to gas shortage and protects the plant from overflow damage. By adjusting the power stepwise, a more stable operating point is achieved. This minimises mechanical wear on the control valves and optimises the capacity factor of the CHP unit.
