What is the receiving pit?

The receiving pit is where liquid substrate arrives and is buffered before it enters the process. It equalises deliveries that never arrive evenly, and its mixer keeps solids in suspension so that what leaves the pit is the same mixture that was planned.

The plant — right now

Level, mixer running time and the temperature of the incoming material — read only, calculated on site.

What the AI reads

What the AI reads
  • Level trend against the delivery rhythm, so a delivery is not pumped into a full pit
  • Mixer running time against what suspension actually requires, instead of a fixed clock
  • Temperature of incoming substrate, because cold input reaches the digester as a load
  • Crust formation, recognised by the mixer drawing more power for the same duty
Scenario

Monitored: continuously · level and mixer power

The scenario: A crust builds on the surface while the level readings stay perfectly normal. The mixer keeps its schedule and draws a little more power each week — the pit still works, it just costs more, and nobody is told.

Why it matters

Every kilowatt-hour spent stirring here is spent before a single cubic metre of gas exists. Matching the mixer to the actual need is the cheapest efficiency in the chain.
