What is the pre-charge circuit (Precharge)?

> The pre-charge circuit (Precharge Circuit) is an essential protection component in battery energy storage systems (BESS), which controls the voltage build-up at the power electronics components. It prevents high inductive voltage spikes (Inrush Currents), which could destroy power semiconductors, by limiting the switching current. According to IEC 62477, it is critical for the integrity of the DC intermediate circuit connection and the lifespan of the components.
